Q: Hey, I love this site. Check it every day. My BR no-show socks are among my favorite posessions. Tips like that keep me coming back. I'm looking for an informal, heavier sport coat to wear outside and in. Never with a tie. Is Orvis MB approved? It's quality, but very conservative which worries me a little.

A: Orvis isn't really on our radar but perhaps it should be with products like their wool Murphy's Pub Jacket. We're a tad concerned that the fit might be a little too "dad," but it looks cool as shit and definitely not too conservative, especially if you mix it with modern denim and Chucks or Tod's or Puma Sport Fashion, and a woven underneath. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Southside (MB-Bastardized)

  • 2 oz gin
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 sugar cube (or half teaspoon simple sugar)
  • soda water (if desired)

Place the sugar cube at the bottom of a lowball glass, add the fresh lemon juice, and mash with the back of a spoon. Fill two-thirds with ice and the gin and stir for at least 30 seconds. Add soda water, if desired, and give a quick stir. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
